FTC Buyers Guide generator.
Fill in the official FTC Buyers Guide for any used vehicle and print it, ready for the window. Enter the vehicle, pick the warranty, and download the PDF.
One form, filled in the way the FTC requires.
The official form
The PDF is the FTC's own Buyers Guide, with your details printed in the blanks. Nothing else is added, because the rule bans extra text and logos on the form.
The right version
Pick As Is if your state allows selling without implied warranties, or Implied Warranties Only if it doesn't. The PDF includes only that front page and the back page.
Ready to print
Download the two pages and print them front and back. Give the buyer the original or a copy at the sale, updated with any changes you negotiated.
Questions dealers ask about the Buyers Guide
Any dealer that sells or offers for sale more than five used vehicles in 12 months must post one on every used car, light truck and van offered for sale, including demonstrators. Motorcycles are excluded, and the rule doesn't apply in Maine or Wisconsin, which have their own forms.
Use As Is only where your state allows you to disclaim implied warranties. Where it doesn't, use Implied Warranties Only. Some states also require their own wording, so check with your state attorney general if you're unsure.
If you conduct the sale in Spanish, you must post the Spanish Buyers Guide on the vehicle before you display or offer it for sale.
Name each system specifically, such as engine block or transmission case. The rule doesn't allow shorthand like drive train or power train. Give the duration for each system, or once if they all share it.
Somewhere both sides can be read in plain view, such as hanging from the rearview mirror or attached to a side window. You can remove it for a test drive, then put it back.
Yes. Your sales contract must say: The information you see on the window form for this vehicle is part of this contract. Information on the window form overrides any contrary provisions in the contract of sale.
